Large Ensemble
Into the Unknown
Concert band, 2019
Written for the DYWE/OLLI Composition Competition, Into the Unknown explores the human condition of curiosity and wanting to know more. However, this sometimes comes with a cost. Where do you draw the line between 'heavily informed' and 'knowing too much?' Be careful what you wish for, because sometimes knowledge is dangerous.
Runaway Sleigh
Concert band, 2020
Contrasting the light-hearted sleigh ride we all know and love, this piece is an exciting fast-paced ride through the tundra filled with some interesting meter changes and a few surprises. Sit back, and hang on!
Reflections on a Lifetime
Concert band, 2020
During my time in college, I have been able to learn so much not only about my career but myself. Since graduation, I have been reflecting more about who I am and realized how much I've grown in only 4 years. I would not be where I am without the people around me, so thank you everyone.
Alma Mater
Concert band, 2021
Back in 2016, I wrote a piece titled "Alma Mater" as a sendoff of sorts for me going away to college. During the last year of my undergrad, I decided to revisit and revise it as a way of seeing how my writing skills have developed. This is the final result.
re:Discovery
Orchestra, 2022
Life moves fast, so be prepared to learn a lot in a short period of time. The roots of this piece come from being stuck at home during the COVID-19 pandemic. What started as a short piano idea soon developed into a full orchestral piece. Not quite a concerto, but the incorporation of the piano plays an important role in direction of the music
Subway Creatures
Orchestra, 2022
As I travel around the city I noticed that some of the trains have a musical quality to them when leaving the station. Sometimes inspiration comes when you least expect it. Written as part of a graduate school assignment to score the opening credits of a psychodrama thriller.
Chamber Ensemble
Fitzrovia Fanfare
Brass ensemble, 2019
In the winter of 2019, I studied abroad in London for a semester. Named after the district where I was housed, I wanted to compose a regal piece for brass band.
kəˈpasədē
Piano / bassoon / double bass, 2019
Written as a commission for two of my friends to be performed at their respective senior recitals in college.
Cherry Blossoms
String quartet, 2023
During my first year of graduate school, I took a recording class and got the experience to work with the ETHEL string quartet. I wanted this piece to be reminiscent of sitting in the shade on a cool spring day.
Solo Piano
Senior Year
Piano suite, 2019/2020
As I was finishing up my final year at the University of Delaware, I wanted to write some short pieces for piano that represented my journey from beginning to the end of the semester
Rain
Piano solo, 2020
This piece started out as a challenge to write something that has a continuous pulse and developed into a technical challenge of moving the melody across the keyboard
Little Dance
Piano solo, 2022
I wanted to write a piece that's akin to a dancer gracefully moving across a stage. The music came from a highly emotional moment in my life and can be compared to me figuring out my path
